Mentoring the Engineers of tomorrow

Providing opportunities for new engineers through the iMechE Mentoring Scheme

Mahesh Apprentice iMechE

We are extremely passionate about supporting young engineers on their journey … and Ed Williams, Head of GemEco at GRG is one of many iMechE Mentors carrying out this invaluable work with the engineers of tomorrow.

This is Mahesh. He is a West Midlands Rail engineering graduate undertaking placements through the Rail Delivery Group REGS (Railway Engineering Graduate Scheme) – the aim is that this helps Mahesh to obtain chartered status. Mahesh recently completed a three week placement at Gemini Rail Group in Wolverton helping the Team with Class 323 C6.

Providing opportunities for new engineers through the iMechE Mentoring Scheme, designed to help engineers develop capabilities and learn from senior colleagues is vital in creating an environment that is both engaging and motivating. This requires high-quality, effective mentoring relationships that support engineers on their journey from new starters to independent professionals taking ownership for their on-going development.
